A clean, organized backpack can be much more conducive to learning than a messy one. To help your child keep theirs tidy and in order, follow the tips below.

How to Help Your Child Organize Their Backpack

  1. First of all, make sure that your child has the right backpack for them and their needs. This should be a big enough backpack that has an ergonomic design and two straps, so your child can wear it comfortably. Likewise, make sure it has several pockets so they can keep their things organized.
  2. You should also help your child create a system with which your child can organize their school supplies. For instance, they can organize their things by subject. Just make sure that they know to keep the heavier items at the back of the bag to avoid hurting themselves.
  3. It makes no sense that your child has to carry everything they own in their backpack, especially if they aren't going to use it. That's why, you should encourage them to pack their bags on a daily basis, so they only take with them what they'll need and reduce the risk of a strained back.
  4. Smaller items (such as pencils, erasers, and sharpeners), may get lost in your child's backpack. That's why you should give them a pencil case to put them all in.
  5. Finally, be sure to help your child clean out their backpack every so often. This way, they'll be able to take out all of the trash they carry in it, as well as rearrange all of their belongings in it.
